Epilogue
Orlando had stayed with Viggo in L.A. in the weeks following their reconciliation. Both men were in seventh heaven. More in love now than they had ever been. Friends fortunate enough to see them at that time said they glowed. Glowed with love. Glowed with happiness. Glowed with that contentment and peace that seems to surround those lucky enough to find their true soul mates.
Once things had settled a little and they had gotten used to being together again, they began to make plans. Plans for how they would spend their lives together. Plans that meant they spent as little time as possible apart in spite of their two busy careers. Plans that their agents, publicists and other ‘advisors’ respected and worked with. Never again would Orlando fall prey to the sharks that swam in the waters of fame and celebrity, because never again would Viggo take such a back seat in that side of Orlando’s life he would let him. Everyone who worked with them soon realised and accepted that nothing was planned with either of them till they had consulted with the other.
After about two months Orlando returned to London and Viggo went with him. They just were not prepared to be un-necessarily separated and both men’s families accepted this and understood.
High on their agenda of things they really wanted to do while in London was something to show Sean how much they valued and appreciated his friendship and the part he had played in their restored happiness. Sean was working so it was a couple of weeks before they met and began by taking him to dinner at The Ivy. They had both decided that although not entirely either of their styles the quiet opulence of the place would suit their classy Yorkshire friend. It was, in fact, one of his favourite restaurants and this evening was all about Sean.
They had a truly lovely evening and persuaded Sean back to Orlando’s house for a quick night cap, even though he had said he had an early start in the morning. As Sean was finally preparing to leave Viggo said…
“So Sean, will we see you later in the week?”
Suddenly for the first time for years there was an awkward pause between the three men. Orlando was sure he saw a faint blush stain Sean’s cheeks.
“No I don’t think so,” Sean said quietly.
Two questioning gazes settled on the Yorkshire man.
“And where might you be off to then?” Orlando asked innocently.
The tips of Sean’s ears turned pink.
“Sean?” Viggo’s tone was bland but held more than a hint of not letting Sean off the hook.
“Oh bugger it!” said Sean. "We were keeping quiet, but I was gonna tell yer soon anyway.”
“Tell us what?” Queried Viggo his eyebrow rising.
Sean took a deep breath…
“I can’t see you guys later in the week, much as I’d like to, ‘cause…’cause I’m off to Glasgow.”
“Mmm?” This time the eyebrow raising was Orlando.
“I’m off to Glasgow to see Billy.” He paused and the eyebrows on the watching faces climbed higher. “Could go out next week though when we get back down here.”
By now a light bulb had gone on brightly in Orlando’s head and Viggo had gotten there too.
“He said ‘We’, Orlando, did you notice? The man said ‘We’.”
“I did Viggo.” Orlando couldn’t keep the grin out of his voice.
Suddenly, but not for the first time that evening Sean found himself as the meat in a Viggorli sandwich.
“You dark horse!” From Viggo.
“Congratulations man! That’s wonderful.” From Orlando.
“What prompted this and how long has it been going on?"
Sean’s smile was shy and gentle and he blushed even more prettily.
“Dunno really” Sean said, his accent broadening as he spoke of something so personal. “We’d always got on. Talked a lot about stuff, yer know. He’s quite a bit younger than me, but he’s like this one.” He squeezed Orlando to him. “A bit wise beyond his years an’ all. Anyway, then Ian ‘ad this ‘ere do. You remember Orlando you couldn’t go ‘cause it was Sam’s birthday.”
“Yeah I remember,” Orlando nodded.
“An’ well suddenly it were there like. We weren’t even remotely pissed and there we were wrapped around each other like a pair o’ twining vines. So we buggered off to mine and ‘ad a chat. And a lot o’ stuff came out like and well we ended up deciding we wanted to gi'e it a go so ter speak. I wanted ter tek it slow like ‘cause I were still concerned about you pair. I explained ter Bill that you still ‘ad ter be me priority till yer got sorted an’ ‘e were cool wi’ that. But, well, as soon as I got you pair called from L.A. ter say all were fine wi’ yer both an’ yer were all back together. Well that were it like. I were on t’ next flight ter Glasgow. Yeah, I know it’s amazing what being in luv does. I flew to Glasgow to Billy an’ I’m flying ter Billy again termorra. It still amazes me even now.”
He looked from Viggo to Orlando and saw that both had tears in their eyes.
“Bloody ‘ell, nah wot's up wi’ yer both?"
Orlando couldn’t speak and neither could Viggo. Sean had been such a good friend and his simple honesty had just told them how good, and what was more he was totally unaware of just how rare his brand of friendship was. To Sean it was just what being a good mate was about. They held him tighter trying to convey with their touch what they couldn’t say with words.
“Yer daft buggers,” said Sean, “now you’ve got me goin’.’”
Viggo moved in and kissed Sean’s left cheek as Orlando moved in and kissed his right. Arms round each other the three men moved towards the door.
“Go,” said Viggo. “Go and love that Scottish hobbit of yours.”
“And give him a couple of big kisses from us.” Orlando added.
Sean pulled out one of his patented Bean killer grins. “Yes my King. My Prince.” He nodded his head in mock allegiance at each of them and then disappeared into his waiting taxi.
Viggo and Orlando stood on the door step with their arms around each other and waved Sean off. Orlando was still smiling as they went back inside and Viggo closed and locked the door.
“What is it, Angel?” He asked quietly noticing Orlando’s almost glowing smile.
Orlando’s smile got even brighter if that were possible and he pulled Viggo into his arms, kissing him gently but firmly.
“That’s it isn’t it Vig? Everything’s perfect now. I felt like we were waiting for something and that was it.”
Viggo smiled and hugged Orlando even closer, understanding exactly what he was getting at.
“ Yeah.” He said quietly. “Sean deserves to be happy if anyone does. Particularly after all he’s done for us.”
“Yeah. I love you so much, Vig.”
“I love you too, Angel. More than ever I can say.”
“Come show me then.”
Arms still around each other they began to climb the stairs.
